Elaine Lindsay Harrison, 85, daughter of Dr Charles Victor and Mary Lindsay, passed to her rest June 11, 2013 at her home in Encinitas, California. She was born May 25, 1928 in La Jolla. Elaine was a long-time resident of Encinitas, where she grew up and attended San Deguito HS. She graduated from Loma Linda University in 1949, with a degree in nursing (R.N.), and married Dr. Fredrick E. Harrison in 1951. She and Fred moved back to Encinitas in 1963.
In 1979, Elaine met Hugh Martin, noted composer, and worked as Hugh’s personal manager for over 30 years. During that time, she worked with Hugh on the hit musical, “Meet me In St. Louis,” which debuted at the Gershwin Theater on Broadway in 1989. Elaine managed the collection of Hugh’s memoirs, which were published in 2010, and cared for Hugh in his later years until his death in March, 2011.
Elaine had a passion for her family, music, the beach, her city of Encinitas, and the proper use of the English language. She is survived by her husband Fredrick, her son Evan, and his wife Star, her daughter Andra and her husband John, her granddaughter Lindsay, and her grandson Sean.
